Calming yourself during anxiety can be a benefit.

I am a stickler about time. I’ve learned that time is the one currency in which we can not replenish and add more into our account of life. There are numerous distractions that take place in our life that continue to steal time from us. Time is the currency in which you can not make more of or control but you are able to manage time very effectively and efficiently when you know what you want to do with your time and the existence of things within it. So how do you determine the way in which you manage the time in which you are given? What do you do to determine what type of value you should put on the many different parts of your evolution? TIME. I prefer to waste money more than than I prefer to waste my time.

There is something else that will steal time from you. In many instances, you are not even aware of your time being stolen because when you’re in a moment of anxiousness, you don’t realize or track the amount of time that is going by. Anxiety is the destruction of one’s opportunity and time if you are not aware of how to manage it. Typically when someone hears the word anxiety, they become very judgmental toward the individual or circumstance surrounding the individual that’s speaking about anxiety. There is a stigma that many have a hard time looking beyond. Anxiety can be both positive and negative, however, only the negative effects of anxiety are spoken of. Below I will highlight a few tips that can possibly assist you in dealing with the negative challenges surrounding anxiety, including how to use anxiety as a positive resource.

Anxiety can help with those gut feelings you’re having

Have you ever felt as if something wasn’t right or a bit off? That’s usually a form of anxiety at work. It is something that most people will not speak of but will use as a guide more often than not once they realize that they are able to benefit from it. Anxiety can be used to help you become an architect of great results. You can use that “ever-running” mindset to help you become more. The more that you always dreamed of but maybe thought that you weren’t able to accomplish things because people told you that you did not have it in you to accomplish some things. What more would you need to be more, successful, a relevant source in society? How can I get it under control? Anxiety will cause you to have these questions and so many more but you don’t need to.

That feeling that tells you that something is wrong and is not being done the way that you naturally feel can be disturbing. However, take that feeling and place it in a proverbial mixing bowl. Add a bit of observation, mindfulness, and dose of confidence and now you have a mental cement mix that can help you start laying the bricks for the foundation of progression. Progression through things that may be a challenge for your growth in business or personally along the journey of becoming more.

You Can Become A Super Athlete

When we get anxious while during an activity we usually get one of two feelings going through our bodies that either helps us focus much more easily on the activity that we are involved in, or it forces us to freeze up and become a bit frazzled. Of course, we hope that our focus increases so that we are able to optimize our performance in what we are doing with no problems and continue to complete the task at hand and come out of the situation with the best results in the end. However, many times when it is our first time in a high tense situation we find ourselves freezing up because of the unfamiliarity of being in that position before This could be a normal thing because, again, it is a first for us. So what should we do to be able to perform at our peak performance and make the best of the anxiousness that is coming over us? You may ask this question time and time again and you may not even have an accurate answer for it so I hope these few pointers will help you out. Remember this type of anxiety is called Performance Anxiety and it is quite normal for athletes and people who participate in what I like to call high-level activities.

Individuals that deal with Performance Anxiety generally go through the steps to learn how to effectively manage it. Once they learn how to effectively manage the performance anxiety they activate it during there time of performance. First, they make sure to focus on the task at hand, instead of putting energy and effort into trying to control the outcome. Secondly, they may make it a great practice to keep a positive mindset and even smile during the activity. Understandably there may not be room to smile during a game, however, before and after the game they usually try to show gratitude for the ability to be able to perform with their fellow athletes. Lastly, they will perform like there is no other opportunity in the future for them to show their skills. They try to draw both their opponent and the crowd into their world of excitement and commitment by running as if there is no care in the world of how the end turns out. These three approaches usually, help athletes meet their goal or at the least, put on a hell of a performance.

It Helps You Plan A Plan For The Plan

Anxiety also serves as a great source for developing contingency plans for things that you may have on your agenda to accomplish or execute. For instance, event planning can create subconscious anxiety around event details. An example of this is something as simple as the menu for an event. The details of the decor for an event can cause you to feel as if there is a chance for specific details to be overlooked and or quite simply be incorrect. Whatever the situation may be, you can avoid the hardship of the battle in your head by creating a contingency plan for the plan that you have already developed. It’s simply thought of, if this, then do that.

Winning Can Become Easy

Time and scheduling can be utilized to set you up for simple and easy wins. Preventative actions are how we win with anxiety. In short, knowing that there are things that you can do at any given time will many times lead you in the direction of not getting them done at all. Decide what things on your agenda can be handled appropriately with just a little bit of time management. Wins can be made simple by doing some of these simple steps:

  • Put aside a few hours to plan for prevention of potential hiccups
  • Make a list of things to help minimize potential neglect of task
  • List out the bigger/longer tasks from the smaller/shorter more immediate ones

However, you choose to effectively plan out your day, make sure that the task is clear and the process to fulfill them is simplified.

Through it all, the dynamics surrounding the ability to utilize anxiety as a benefit instead of paralysis can be made quite simple. Once you think it, do it or at the bare minimum, prepare for it. It being the task you are looking to complete.
